Welcome to the Warmup Section
These practices are a supplemental offering to complement the Fully Being course and encourage embodied awareness. Many people find warming up, connecting to and loosening the body helpful before meditation practice. As with any movement practice, use your common sense and only do what feels safe and comfortable for you. If you have illnesses or past injuries that may compromise your abilities, please consult your doctor before trying these exercises. These practices are designed to be gentle but everyone is unique, so practice at your own risk. The demonstrations of various asanas are for illustrative purposes only. Please be very careful in performing these asanas, and adapt them to accord with your own abilities and needs.
The qigong-based practices are chosen from several Qigong and Tai Chi lineages. There is a version with spoken instruction, approximately 16 minutes long, that can be used several times to get acquainted with the movement, standing posture and general vibe. After getting familiar there is a silent guided version, approximately 10 minutes long, you can use for ongoing practice.
The yoga warm-ups and breathing exercises are taught by an experienced practitioner and professor of yoga at Naropa University and include basic postures, movements and simple breathing practices to prepare for sitting meditation. If you feel pain or become lightheaded or dizzy while doing the yoga exercises or breathings please stop, rest and consult a qualified yoga instructor to help you learn the exercises
